Four matches of the Inter-college and University Women's Volleyball competition were decided on the opening day (Friday) at Shaheed Noor Hossain National Volleyball Stadium in the city.
In the day's matches, South Bridge School and College beat Eden College by 2-0 set points, Mohammadpur Preparatory School and College defeated St. Francis Xavier's Girls' School & College by 2-0 sets points, BRACK Universality outclassed Jahangirnagar University by 2-1 set points and Dhaka University overpowered Jagannath University by 2-0 set points, reports BSS.
Earlier, Dr Mohammad Jafar Uddin, chief executive officer of Bangladesh Foreign Trade Institute, formally inaugurated the four-day meet as the chief guest.
Syeda Jannat Ara, additional Deputy Inspector General, CID of Bangladesh Police and chairman of women's volleyball committee of Bangladesh Volleyball Federation (BVF) presided over the opening ceremony.
A total of eight women's volleyball teams -- Dhaka University, Jagannath University, Mohammadpur Preparatory School and College, St. Francis Xavier's Girls' School & College, Dhaka Jahangirnagar University, BRACK Universality, South Bridge School and College and Eden Women's College - are taking part in the meet, organised by BVF.
