SL in Super 12s beating Netherlands

Sri Lanka have secured its position to the Super 12s of the T20 World Cup tournament as they beat the Netherlands by 16 runs in the 'First Round Group A' match in Geelong on Thursday.

Kusal Mendis' outstanding 79 off 44 helped Sri Lanka to reach 162 for 6. With a target of 163, Netherlands managed to score 146 for 9 after playing 20 overs.

Kusal Mendis became the Player of the Match for his extraordinary batting performance.

The Netherlands batter Max O'Dowd played a decent 71 runs' innings playing 53 balls.

After winning the match, Dasun Shanaka the winning captain said, "We knew that we could be the number 1 in this group, but we missed out in the first match. The boys have done well."
