BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir on Saturday said the government will be toppled by the mass protest. He also termed the government fascist.
He made the remarks while speaking at a rally organized by BNP as chief guest in Khulna on Saturday (October 22).
Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir demanded a neutral caretaker government dissolving the Parliament.
He said, "No unbiased and fair election is possible under this government. The government knows that they would not get 10 seats under the caretaker government."
Mirza Fakhrul further said, "The government has not come to the power with the mandate of the people. Dissolve the Parliament. The people of the country won't accept any election without the caretaker government."
He also claimed that some 500 leaders and activists of BNP were arrested in last three days.
"Several thousand others were injured while they were coming to the rally venue. Many BNP people came under attack," he added.
Khulna Metropolitan BNP Convener Advocate SM Shafiqul Alam Mana presided over the rally.
BNP Standing Committee Members Gayeshwar Chandra Roy, Dr Abdul Moeen, BNP Vice-chairmen Shamsuzzaman Dudu, Nitai Roy Chowdhury, Abdul Awal Mintoo, Moshiur Rahman, Barrister Mahbub Uddin Khokon, Shohiduddin Choudhury Any and other central leaders were present there. They also spoke at the rally.
