New Zealand beat Sri Lanka by 65 runs

New Zealand outclassed Sri Lanka by 65 runs in the T20 World Cup 2022 at Sydney Cricket Ground (SCG) on October 29.

After opting to bat, Glenn Phillips scored a brilliant century and helped New Zealand post 167/7 in 20 overs.

Glenn Phillips' 104 off 64 balls guided the Blackcaps to 167 for 7 despite the side being reduced to 15 for 3 at one stage.

New Zealand bundled out Sri Lanka for 102 as Trent Boult returned figures of 4 for 13 and Mitchell Santner and Ish Sodhi scalped two wickets each.

Bhanuka Rajapaksa and Dasun Shanaka tried to rebuild the innings but bowlers continued to pick up wickets to secure another important win.

Shanaka went on to make 35 off 32 balls while Rajapaksa was out for 34 off 22.

Kasun Rajitha picked up 2/23.

Trent Boult was the pick of the bowlers with 4/13.

Spinners Mitchell Santner and Ish Sodhi claimed two wickets apiece at the latter part of the game.

Daryl Mitchell made 22 off 24 balls.
