Elon Musk could make an 'Alternative Phone' to compete with Android and Apple

Update : 26 Nov 2022, 13:27

Tesla CEO and Twitter chief Elon Musk said on November 26 that he will come up with "alternative" smartphones to compete with Apple and Android devices if Twitter gets banned from application stores.

It all started when a user tweeted, “If Apple & Google boot Twitter from their app stores, @elonmusk should produce his own smartphone. Half the country would happily ditch the biased, snooping iPhone & Android. The man builds rockets to Mars, a silly little smartphone should be easy, right?”

“I certainly hope it does not come to that, but, yes, if there is no other choice, I will make an alternative phone,” Musk replied.

The Tweet instantly garnered the attention of enthusiasts and trolls. One user said, “But will it be $8?" Twitter Blue costs $8/month to get verified on Twitter.

While one commented, “I bet he will revolutionise the smartphones,” another said, “I feel somehow like this plan is already in the works.”

Twitter CEO on November 25 said the micro-blogging platform would tentatively relaunch ‘Verified’ service on Friday next week and all verified accounts will be “manually authenticated before check activates”.

It has been rumoured this year that Tesla was planning to release a “Pi Phone”.

While never confirmed, it was speculated Musk’s phone would be a market competitor with Apple’s iPhone and Samsung Galaxy smartphone ranges.
