Babar named ICC Cricketer of the Year

Pakistan captain batter Babar Azam won the Sir Garfield Sobers Trophy for the year 2022 by the International Cricket Council (ICC). The ICC confirmed the matter on Thursday (January 26) at its website.

2022 was the year like a dream for Babar. In the year, he played 44 matches and scored 2598 runs with 8 centuries and 15 half centuries with an average of 54.12.  Babar beat England's Ben Strokes, Zimbabwe's Sikandar Raza and New Zealand's Tim Southee. He was awarded with the title 'Best Cricketer of the Year' for his marvelous performance.

In 2022, Babar Azam scored 679 runs with 3 centuries and 5 half-centuries in 9 one-day matches. Babar Azam also named ICC Men's ODI Cricketer of the Year. He bagged the title for the second time in a row.
