Update : 14 Mar 2023, 14:32

Bollywood actress Deepika Padukone has gained immense success not just in her home country India but also globally. She was chosen to be one of the presenters at the 95th academy awards in Los Angeles recently.

Wearing a stunning black velvet Louis Vuitton classic off-shoulder gown that she paired with velvet gloves and a diamond necklace, Deepika oozes out elegance on the global platform. With hair up in a neat bun, the actress also flaunted her new tattoo.

The actress announced the live performance of Naatu Naatu, the song from RRR which went on to win the Best Original Song trophy. While she won hearts for her speech and graceful presence on the stage, Deepika got misidentified as Camila Alves, a Brazilian model.

Netizens noticed the mistake and pointed it out by sharing a screenshot of Getty Images misidentifying Deepika as Camila Alves. Not just Getty, AFP and Vogue also made the similar error which was identified by social media users.

The actress’s fans are furious at this and are calling out the media outlet for negligence. "Big sigh," one user wrote. "Deepika's actually quite famous in her own right  -- 72 million insta followers and an award-winning career," added another user.

One fan wrote, “Hey @BuzzFeed, this is Deepika Padukone (@deepikapadukone), the highest paid actress in Bollywood. Your ignorance and racial blindness is showing. Please fix.” Another one wrote, “um, getty images this is deepika padukone. you appear to have confused her with camila alves. deepika’s actually quite famous in her own right – 72 million insta followers and an award-winning career”.
