Bangladesh Test stalwarts Mushfiqur Rahim and Taijul Islam reached their career best position in the ICC rankings thanks to their performance in the one-off Test against Ireland last week.

Mushfiqur who hit 126 and 51 to register two fifty plus knock in a Test for the first time in his 18-year long career leapfrogged five places to reach 17th position, which is his career best. But he was one short of his career best rating points of 675 which came against Sri Lanka last year, reports BSS.

Left-arm spinner Taijul Islam jumped three places to reach his career best 20th position after taking nine wickets in the match. Mushfiqur and Taijul's performance was instrumental in Bangladesh's seven-wicket win over Ireland.

Despite losing two spots, Liton, sitting at 15th place is still the best batter of Bangladesh, according to the ICC rankings.

Skipper Shakib Al Hasan who scored 87 runs in the only Test against Ireland but bowled only 16 overs in the match, improved his position in both batting and bowling. He sits at 38th position, jumping one place in batting and sits 26th in bowling. He shared his place in bowling with compatriot Mehidy Hasan Miraz who indeed lost four places.

Meanwhile pacer Ebadot Hossain made a giant leap, as he came to 67th position, jumping 15 places.
