'MS Dhoni' to re-release in theatres as tribute to Sushant Singh Rajput

Update : 06 May 2023, 08:32

The much-loved biopic MS Dhoni: The Untold Story, which bowled over audiences in 2016, is all set to re-release in Indian theatres on 12th May across theatres in Hindi, Tamil and Telugu!

Directed by Neeraj Pandey, the film starred late actor Sushant Singh Rajput as MS Dhoni. Sushant's performance was loved by the audience and critics alike. Released on September 30, 2016, the movie was a blockbuster hit and became the fifth highest-grossing Bollywood film of 2016 with US$27 million.

The decision to re-release the film comes after fans and admirers of Sushant Singh Rajput, who passed away in June 2020, requested for the film to be re-released in theatres as a tribute to the late actor. The re-release is also seen as an opportunity to celebrate Sushant's work and legacy, and to honor his contributions to Indian cinema.

After an official announcement on Twitter by Star Studios, fans flooded social media with comments. Many expressed their desire to watch the film again for the late actor’s performance and for the story of the Indian cricket legend. One Twitter user wrote, “Definitely will watch for Sushant & Dhoni,” while another said, “Farewell to Dhoni and to remember Sushant.”
