Taylor Swift-themed party turns into a Covid-19 superspreader

The celebration party of American singer and songwriter Taylor Swift's recently released 'Red (Taylor's Version)' in Sydney Australia has turned out into a Covid-19 superspreader.

However, Swift, 32, wasn’t actually part of the party, it was a special gathering of fans to celebrate the re-release of her 2012 album.

The event, dubbed "On Repeat: Taylor Swift Red Party," took place Dec. 10 at the Metro Theatre in Sydney, a live music venue with a capacity of 1,100 people, according to the Sydney Morning Herald. It was billed as a celebration of the rerelease of Taylor Swift's 2012 album "Red."

As per the reports, more than 100 people who attended a Swift-themed party last week have since tested COVID positive for the virus. 

According to a Fox News report, fans who gathered at the December 10 Sydney event–On Repeat: Taylor Swift Red Party in celebration of the singer’s Red (Taylor’s Version) are reportedly being asked to “immediately get tested” and isolate for seven days after “at least 97 positive cases” have been confirmed.

Taylor did not attend the event. Individuals who attended the event have been slapped with fines that were increased to USD 5,000 (from US$ 1,000) and corporate fines have increased to USD 10,000 (from US$ 5,000), according to a media report.

The New South Wales Health Ministry has also tagged the Metro Theatre in Sydney as “New Venue of Concern” after celebrations of Taylor’s album’s re-release.
