IIFA 2023 was a star-studded affair with many renowned celebrities attending the prestigious award ceremony. The 23rd International Indian Film Academy (IIFA) Awards began with a green carpet ceremony in Abu Dhabi. The two-day extravaganza event concluded on Saturday night at the Etihad Arena, part of Yas Bay Waterfront on Yas Island in Abu Dhabi.
Hrithik Roshan won the best actor (male) award in the leading role for the film Vikram Vedha. Alia Bhatt bagged the best actor (female) award in the leading role for the film Gangubai Kathiawadi at IIFA Awards 2023.
Producer Jayantilal Gada received the award on her behalf as she could not attend the award ceremony as her maternal grandfather, Narendra Razdan, is reportedly not well.
In his speech, Hrithik Roshan said, ‘he gave his shot of Vedha in Abu Dhabi, and it ended here with an award. It feels like life has come to a full circle for me.’ Gangubai Kathiawadi has won several awards, including dialogue, screenplay, and cinematography.
South superstar Veteran actor Kamal Haasan received a standing ovation at IIFA 2023 as he was honoured with the award for Outstanding Achievement in Indian Cinema.
Notably, Hindi films Brahmastra: Part One - Shiva and the biopic Gangubai Kathiawadi won big at the ceremony. Alia and Ranbir Kapoor starrer fantasy drama bagged several awards, including Best Playback Singer for Shreya Ghoshal (female) and Arijit Singh (male), as well as Best Supporting Actor (female) for Mouni Roy. Alia starrer Gangubai Kathiawadi won awards in the technical categories for cinematography, screenplay, and dialogue. R Madhavan won the Best Director award for his film ‘Rocketry.
