A Moscow court has fined Google 7.2 billion rubles (98 million USD) for repeatedly failing to delete content considered illegal in Russia. However, the court's press service did not elaborate on the offensive content.
This is the first time a tech giant in Russia has been fined on the basis of its annual turnover. Google has told AFP that it will consider the court's decision before deciding what to do next. Russian authorities have pressurized technology companies this year. They have accused companies for mismanaging content and interfering in the country's internal affairs.
