Marrying sister for money!

A brother married his sister to get money for government projects. It is as weird as it sounds! This incident took place in India.

According to the details of the incident, under the mass marriage scheme, the state government of the country gives 35,000 Taka in Bangladeshi currency to each couple. Under this scheme,  22,000 Taka is deposited to the bride's bank account and 11,000 Taka is given as a gift. The man married his sister to get this money.

The brother and sister tied a knot on 11th of December, 2021  in Tundla, Firozabad, Uttar Pradesh. However, they kept this identity secret during marriage. This incident came to light later on.

The marriage took place on the premises of the Tundler Block Development Office.  Along with 51 other couples who  got married at the same time.

Block Development Officer Naresh Kumar said action would be taken against the two accused. References: Gulf News.
