A fire that broke out in a tin-shed house of Chandalbuk Manik Bosti area around 4:15 a.m. in the capital's Uttara early Tuesday killed three members of a family.
The deceased are cousin. Md Jahangir, 19, Ruma Akter, 17, and Afrin, 14, were among those who died, according to the OC Mehedi Hasan of Turag Police Station.
"Three fire units raced to the scene after being notified at 4:20 a.m. and extinguished the fire by 5:40 a.m.
"It's believed that the fire was caused by an electric short-circuit," he added.
