Sharafat Hussain receives 'Bangali' Sahitya Puroshkar

Renowned poet and Journalist Sharafat Hussain has been awarded by 'Bangali' Sahitya Puroshka. The award was presented by Prolific painter Hashem Khan who attended the program as chief guest. On Friday (24 November) the ceremony took place at Bangladesh National Museum. Novelist Harishankar Jaladas inaugurated the event and it was chaired by Professor Dr. Ratan Siddique. Dr. Sarker Abdul Mannan, fiction writer Rafiqur Rashid, eminent writer Jharna Rahman were also present as guests. 

During the ceremony Hashem Khan congratulated the winner and stated, ''we have to be more careful, from every profession we all should come forward to promote Bangla language and culture.''  

Expressing his joy and gratitude upon receiving the award Sharafat Hussain said, ''writer is devoted to the struggle of beauty. Here award is additional acquirement. This accomplishment has increased my responsibility.'' 

On the occasion of the seventh anniversary of Bangali Prokashona, 10 poets-litterateurs were honored and awarded for their contribution to literature. Sharafat Hussain, Jannatul Bakeya Keka, Joyosree Das, Shamub Zewel received 'Bangali' Sahitya Puroshkar, alongside Children's author Faridur Reza Sagar, Amirul Islam, poet Maruful Islam, fiction writer Mila Mahfuza and poet Dukhu Bangal were honored. 

Publisher of Bangali, Arif Nazrul said, ''to honor the ingenious writers this honourableness and reward was given and this effort will continue.''
