Update : 03 Feb 2022, 10:39

Abu Mohsin Khan, the father-in-law of actor Riaz committed suicide while live-streaming on Facebook.

During a live stream on Facebook on Wednesday night, February 2nd, 58-year-old businessman shot himself in the head. Police then retrieved Mohsin Khan's body from his flat at House No. 25, Road No. 7 in Dhanmondi.

According to Dhanmondi Police Station duty officer SI Alamgir, Abu Mohsin Khan shot himself in the head at 9:00 p.m. with his licensed revolver.

"The deceased was the actor Riaz's father-in-law. He used to reside alone in his Dhanmondi apartment," said the duty officer.

Mohsin Khan also allegedly wrote a "suicide note" in which he stated that "no one was responsible for his death."

Sajjadur Rahman, deputy commissioner (Ramna Division) of the Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP), rushed to the flat after hearing the news.

He said that Abu Mohsin Khan used to reside alone in his flat.  His wife and son live in Australia.

"Since 2017, he had been battling cancer. He also lost a lot of money in his businesses. All of this could have made him depressed and frustrated," said the police official.

"He might have committed himself as a result of these factors," the DC speculated.

Actor Riaz and his wife raced to the scene after learning the death of Abu Mohsin. Riaz told to the cops that he had no knowledge why his father-in-law had killed himself.

Abu Mohsin Khan's body was taken to the Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH) mortuary for an autopsy.
