One held for chanting ‘Joy Bangla’ at Gulistan

A young man was detained after chanting "Joy Bangla" in front of a BNP rally near the Awami League central office at Zero Point in Dhaka's Gulistan on Sunday.

When he attempted to flee after shouting the slogan, BNP supporters and others present caught him, beat him, and handed him over to the police.

The incident occurred around 1:30pm. The identity of the man is yet to be confirmed.

Reports indicate that leaders and activists from various BNP and BNP-affiliated groups had started gathering in front of the Awami League’s party office from around 11 a.m. At approximately 1 p.m., the young man shouted "Joy Bangla" near the procession, sparking the altercation that led to his detention by the police
