Bishwa Ijtema begins Friday, devotees start arriving

The Bishwa Ijtema is scheduled to commence on Friday, on the banks of the Turag River in Tongi. The 58th edition of this significant event will begin with the Aam Bayan, or general sermon, following the Fajr prayer.

This gathering will see the participation of members from the Shura-e-Nizam faction of Tabligh, who will be guided by esteemed Islamic scholars, known as Ulama-e-Keram.

Devotees who are responsible for managing various khettas, or designated areas, and other key points have already started arriving at the Ijtema ground.

Those who have reached the venue are now settling into their respective areas, preparing for the spiritual activities ahead.

This year’s Ijtema will be conducted in two distinct phases, both of which will be supervised by Islamic scholars and the Shura-e-Nizam faction. The first phase will begin on January 31 and will conclude on February 2 with the Akheri Munajat, or final supplication.

The second phase will commence on February 3 and will end on February 5, also concluding with an Akheri Munajat.

A total of 41 districts, including certain parts of Dhaka, will participate in the first phase of the Ijtema. The districts involved in this phase are: Gazipur, Tongi, Dhamrai, Gaibandha, Mirpur, Kakrail, Natore, Moulvibazar, Rajshahi, Dohar, Demra, Narail, Thakurgaon, Lalmonirhat, Nawabganj, Nilphamari, Dinajpur, Rangpur, Bogura, Narayanganj, Barishal, Bhola, Chuadanga, Kushtia, Jashore, Magura, Bagerhat, Satkhira, Mymensingh, Chattogram, Netrokona, Sherpur, Faridpur, Habiganj, Sunamganj, Feni, Lakshmipur, Chandpur, Brahmanbaria, Khulna, Patuakhali, Cumilla, Jhinaidah, Chapainawabganj, Pirojpur, Kurigram, Panchagarh, and Rajbari.

Habibullah Raihan, the media coordinator of the Shura-e-Nizam faction of Tabligh Jamaat Bangladesh, highlighted the importance of Tabligh’s work, describing it as one of the fundamental endeavors of Islam.

He emphasized that Islamic scholars, or Ulama-e-Keram, serve as the guardians and bearers of this mission. Raihan further noted that devout Muslims aspire to engage in Tabligh activities under the guidance of these scholars.

However, due to the overwhelming number of attendees, accommodating everyone within the 160-acre Tongi ground poses a significant challenge.
