The second phase of the first part of the 58th Bishwa Ijtema has begun on the banks of the Turag River in Tongi, Gazipur. The formal proceedings of the second phase commenced on Monday (February 3) after the Fajr prayer with the Aam Bayan (general sermon). This phase is being led by followers of Maulana Zubair, a senior leader of the Tabligh Jamaat.
In this second phase of the Ijtema, worshippers from 22 districts, including parts of Dhaka, have gathered in 40 separate sections (khitta). These districts include Jatrabari, Keraniganj, Mohammadpur, Munshiganj, Jamalpur, Manikganj, Joypurhat, Sylhet, Sirajganj, Meherpur, Tangail, Pabna, Narsingdi, Kishoreganj, Cox’s Bazar, Noakhali, Gopalganj, Jhalokathi, Barguna, Madaripur, Shariatpur, Khagrachhari, Rangamati, Naogaon, and Bandarban. Additionally, a separate tent has been arranged for foreign guests.
The second phase of the Ijtema will continue from February 3 to February 5. It will conclude on February 5 with the Akheri Munajat (final prayer), marking the end of the second phase of the first part of the event.
The second part of the Bishwa Ijtema is set to begin on February 14. Followers of Maulana Saad Kandhalvi, led by Wasikul Islam, will participate in this phase of the Ijtema. This three-day event is scheduled to end on February 16 with the Akheri Munajat.
Earlier, from January 31 to February 2, the first phase of the 58th Bishwa Ijtema was successfully held under the leadership of the Zubair faction of the Bangladesh Tabligh Jamaat Shura-e-Nizam. In the first phase, worshippers from 41 districts participated.
