Advance ticket sales for bus travel during Eid-ul-Fitr will begin on March 14. Tickets will be sold in advance for seven days, covering travel from March 25 until the day before Eid.
The decision was made during a preparatory meeting on Eid travel arrangements held by the Bangladesh Bus-Truck Owners’ Association on Thursday (March 6).
Regarding the matter, the association's acting general secretary, Shubhankar Ghosh Rakesh, stated that the decision to start advance ticket sales on March 14 has been finalized.
On that day, passengers will be able to purchase bus tickets both online and from ticket counters. However, some transport companies will be selling tickets exclusively online this year, giving passengers the option to buy them from either platform.
He emphasized that no extra fare beyond the fixed rates will be charged, stating that bus fares must adhere to the rates set by the Bangladesh Road Transport Authority (BRTA). All transport owners have been instructed to follow this guideline.
Additionally, he mentioned that the owners’ association will have a monitoring team stationed at the terminals during Eid.
They are also planning to implement a security measure for night coaches, where buses will only depart after a security video recording has been made.
