NID services offline for technical glitch

The National Identity Card (NID) online services across Bangladesh have been temporarily suspended due to a technical issue involving the One-Time Password (OTP) system required for server access.

This disruption has caused significant inconvenience to thousands of citizens seeking NID-related services.

According to ASM Humayun Kabir, Director General of the National Identity Registration Division, officials are unable to log into the NID server as the OTPs necessary for authentication are not being received.

This problem stems from a malfunction in the OTP service provided by an external vendor, not from the Election Commission's own servers.

Despite the suspension of online services, activities such as photo capturing and biometric data collection are continuing. The Election Commission has assured that all services will resume promptly once the OTP issue is resolved.

Field-level officials have reported being unable to provide services since the morning due to the OTP problem. Efforts are underway to resolve the issue, with expectations that normal operations will resume by noon.
