A modern non-stop Electronic Toll Collection (ETC) system is being launched on the Padma Bridge in a live pilot format.
From Monday (15 September) at 2:00 pm, vehicles will be able to cross the bridge by paying tolls automatically through designated lanes without stopping.
The Road Transport and Bridges Ministry announced this information in a notice on Sunday (14 September).
According to the notice, users interested in the ETC system must first register their vehicles and recharge via the “D-Toll” option in Trust Bank Limited’s TAP app. Then, at the Padma Bridge “RFID” booth, they must complete the one-time RFID tag check and registration process.
Once the process is complete, vehicle users can use the ETC lanes at a minimum speed of 30 km/h. The prescribed toll will automatically be deducted from the user’s account. In the future, other financial apps are expected to join this service alongside TAP. The a2i program of the ICT Division is working to integrate TAP and other financial apps with the system.
