Govt cuts airfare, announces new packages

The Ministry of Religious Affairs has announced three packages under the government management for next year’s Hajj pilgrims. On Sunday (28 September), Religious Affairs Adviser A. F. M. Khalid Hossain announced these packages at the ministry’s conference room.

This year, the cost of performing Hajj has slightly decreased. For the 2026 Hajj, the minimum cost for Package 3 has been set at Tk 467,167. Package 2 has been set at Tk 558,881, and Package 1 at Tk 690,597.

Package 1 offers accommodation within 700 meters of the holy Masjid al-Haram, Package 2 within 1.7 kilometers of the mosque, and Package 3 in the Aziziyah area.

For 2026 Hajj pilgrims under government management, the airfare has been reduced by Tk 12,990, with the Ministry of Religious Affairs setting it at Tk 154,830. Adviser A. F. M. Khalid Hossain stated that, for the convenience of pilgrims this year, airfare has been cut — last year it was Tk 167,820, now it is Tk 154,830.

He further said that anyone over 70 or 80 years old wishing to go on Hajj must be accompanied by someone under 50. People suffering from contagious diseases will not be allowed to perform Hajj.

This year a total of 127,198 people from Bangladesh will be able to perform Hajj.

Subject to moon sighting, the holy Hajj will take place on 26 May 2026. Registration for Hajj, which began on 27 July, will end on 12 October.
