The interim government is preparing for the national election in February 2026. For this reason, although Bangla Academy — the organizer — had earlier decided to hold the Amar Ekushey Book Fair in December of this year, it has now postponed the event.
This information was announced in a notice signed by Professor Mohammad Azam, Director General of Bangla Academy, on Sunday.
According to the notice, the Ministry of Home Affairs’ decision dated September 21, 2025 states: “Arrangements must be made to hold the Amar Ekushey Book Fair after the upcoming national election.” In line with this, and based on the opinions of BAPUS and other relevant stakeholders, the previously scheduled date for the 2026 Book Fair has been postponed.
The notice also stated that a new date will be fixed later based on the advice of publishers and other stakeholders.
