The School of Entrepreneurship Development (SED) has taken a groundbreaking step in advancing sustainability education in Bangladesh by launching the Center for Green Impact & Entrepreneurship (CGIE) at Northern University Bangladesh (NUB).
This initiative marks a historic milestone, as CGIE becomes Bangladesh’s first and the world’s first university-hosted green learning center dedicated exclusively to climate leadership, sustainability-focused education, and responsible innovation, according to a statement.
The center is hosted by Northern University Bangladesh and implemented through a collaboration between SED and the NUB Marketing & HRM Forum.
The establishment of CGIE reflects a growing national and global demand for climate-aware professionals and green-skilled youth who can lead future economic transformations.
Designed as a specialized learning and skills development platform, the Center aims to prepare NUB students for leadership roles in the emerging global green economy by equipping them with advanced knowledge of sustainable technologies, climate action, green standards, and innovative business models.
CGIE offers an extensive range of academic pathways and training tracks that cover key areas such as renewable energy and the global green transition, clean technologies and industrial innovation, circular economy principles, sustainable infrastructure and mobility systems, environmental protection, and digital technologies supporting sustainability.
Additionally, the Center provides specialized training modules focusing on hands-on green skills, including sustainability practices, circular and zero-waste transitions, ESG compliance, Digital Product Passport (DPP) and responsible supply chain standards, as well as the cultivation of responsible innovation and green entrepreneurship.
The mission of the Center is to develop a new generation of Sustainability Champions, Climate Fellows, and Green Project Leaders who will be capable of contributing meaningfully to Bangladesh’s climate-resilient development agenda.
By integrating global-standard learning systems and practical green training modules, CGIE aims to set a new academic benchmark for sustainability education in the country’s higher education sector.
A major highlight of the launch event was the recognition of the NUB Marketing & HRM Forum, whose enthusiastic involvement will be central to expanding the Center’s influence and activities on campus. Under the guidance of Advisor Kaniz Fatema Anonna, the Forum’s leadership team—including President Deep Chowdhury, Vice President Sheikh Nasser, General Secretary Adnan Sameer Deep, and other key members such as Public Relations Secretary Yum, Organising Secretary Bushra Islam Sneha, Associate Organising Secretary Hasin Arafat, Head of Event Tanjin Riya, Head of Administration Md. Rakibul Islam, Associate Public Relations Mayesha, and Head of Cultural Affairs Tonni Reha—will play a significant role in ensuring that CGIE becomes an active, student-driven platform for innovation and green impact.
The event was attended by notable guests who highlighted the importance of the Center in shaping Bangladesh’s green future. Among them were Mahbub Rahman, Impact Pioneer 2024 (Swedish Institute) and Cofounder of SED, who is recognized as one of the country’s leading advocates of green entrepreneurship.

Additionally, Fuad Hasan Maksud, National Youth Sustainability & Climate Champion of Bangladesh and Cofounder of CGIE, applauded the establishment of the Center, noting that it will significantly enhance youth engagement in climate-conscious leadership, green skills development, and environmental innovation.
With its formal inauguration, the Center for Green Impact & Entrepreneurship sets a pioneering example for universities across Bangladesh and positions the country at the forefront of youth-led sustainable development efforts. The initiative signals a bold step toward mainstreaming sustainability education and empowering students to take active roles in shaping a more resilient, environmentally responsible future for Bangladesh and beyond.
