Service charges at the country’s land ports have been increased by 5 percent. Taxes, tolls, and fees charged for port services have risen by this rate compared to before. The Bangladesh Land Port Authority has issued a gazette notification stating that the new rates will come into effect from January 1 of the new year.
Compared to other land ports, charges at Benapole Land Port are slightly higher. Therefore, a separate gazette has been issued for Benapole. At Benapole Land Port, fees are collected for 27 types of services. For passengers using Benapole Land Port, the service charge for 2025 will be Tk 49.79, which will be increased to Tk 52.27 for 2026.
For buses, trucks, and lorries entering through Benapole Land Port, the import entry fee will now be Tk 184.70, up from the previous Tk 175.90. The fee for motor cars, jeeps, pickups, and three-wheelers has been set at Tk 110.82. For motorcycles and bicycles, the new fee is Tk 36.95.
At Benapole Land Port, the fee for using weighing machines for trucks and lorries will be Tk 88.65. The document processing fee has been fixed at Tk 195.07. If any vehicle stays overnight in the yard, a charge of Tk 111.49 will apply. In addition, warehouse storage charges have increased depending on the duration of storage. Overall, fees for all types of services have been increased.
Service charges at land ports other than Benapole have also been increased by 5 percent. For passengers using land ports other than Benapole, the service charge for 2025 was Tk 49.79, which has been raised to Tk 52.27 for the new year.
For buses, trucks, and lorries imported through land ports other than Benapole, the fee will now be Tk 159.22, up from Tk 151.64. The charge for motor cars and jeeps has been set at Tk 95.52. For motorcycles, scooters, baby taxis, and three-wheelers, the new fee is Tk 47.83. In addition, service charges for importing various types of goods have been increased depending on the category of goods.
The Bangladesh Land Port Authority said that, as in previous years, service charges have been increased this year as well. The new rates will come into effect from January 1. Service charges are the primary source of revenue for land ports.
