With the swearing-in of the BNP government, the advisory council of the interim government led by Dr. Muhammad Yunus has been dissolved.
This information was announced on Tuesday evening in a proclamation signed by Cabinet Secretary Nasimul Goni.
The proclamation states that, under Clause (3) of Article 56 of the Constitution, the member of parliament commanding the majority of the 13th National Parliament, Tarique Rahman, has assumed the responsibilities of Prime Minister. The President has given consent for the formation of a new government under his leadership. With the formation of the new government, the advisory council of the current interim government has been dissolved.
Following the mass uprising in July–August 2024 that led to the fall of the Awami League government, an interim government led by Dr. Yunus was formed on 8 August of the same year.
