Shops to shut by 8PM nationwide

To support the government’s ongoing efforts to save electricity and energy, the Bangladesh Shop Owners Association has decided that all shops and shopping malls across the country, including Dhaka, will close by 8:00 PM.

The organization announced this in a statement on Thursday (April 2).

According to the statement, a joint meeting of the standing committees of the Bangladesh Shop Owners Association and the Dhaka Metropolitan Shop Owners Association made this decision in light of the global energy crisis, aiming to assist the government in conserving electricity and fuel.

As per the decision, all shops, commercial establishments, and shopping malls in Bangladesh, including Dhaka, will close by 8:00 PM.

However, hotels, pharmacies, shops providing essential emergency services, and fresh markets will be exempt from this rule, the Bangladesh Shop Owners Association added.
