BMD predicts rainfall over next 5 days

Due to the influence of a low-pressure system, the Bangladesh Meteorological Department (BMD) has indicated a significant change in the country’s weather conditions.

Over the next five days, temporary gusty winds, lightning, and rain or thunderstorms may occur in different divisions of the country.

This information was provided in a forecast issued on Saturday (April 11) at 6 PM, covering the next 120 hours (five days).

According to the forecast, an extension of the low-pressure area is located over West Bengal and adjoining regions. The seasonal normal low-pressure area is situated over the South Bay of Bengal.

Under these conditions, until 6 PM on Sunday (April 12), one or two places in the Sylhet division may experience temporary gusty winds, lightning, and rain or thunderstorms. Elsewhere in the country, the weather may remain mainly dry with partly cloudy skies. During this time, both day and night temperatures across the country may rise by 1–2°C.

From Sunday 6 PM to the next 24 hours, one or two places in the Dhaka, Mymensingh, Chattogram, and Sylhet divisions may experience temporary gusty winds, lightning, and rain or thunderstorms. Elsewhere, the weather may remain mainly dry with partly cloudy skies. Day temperatures may rise slightly, while night temperatures may increase by 1–2°C across the country.

From Monday (April 13) 6 PM to the following 24 hours, one or two places in the Dhaka, Mymensingh, Khulna, Barishal, Chattogram, and Sylhet divisions may experience temporary gusty winds, lightning, and rain or thunderstorms. Elsewhere, the weather may remain mainly dry with partly cloudy skies. Day temperatures may decrease slightly, while night temperatures may increase slightly across the country.

From Tuesday (April 14) 6 PM to the next 24 hours, one or two places in the Mymensingh, Chattogram, and Sylhet divisions may experience temporary gusty winds, lightning, and rain or thunderstorms. Elsewhere, the weather may remain mainly dry with partly cloudy skies. Day and night temperatures may remain nearly unchanged across the country.

From Wednesday (April 15) 6 PM to the following 24 hours, one or two places in the Rangpur, Dhaka, Mymensingh, and Sylhet divisions may experience temporary gusty winds, lightning, and rain or thunderstorms. Elsewhere, the weather may remain mainly dry with partly cloudy skies. Day and night temperatures may remain nearly unchanged across the country.

The extended five-day outlook indicates that both day and night temperatures may increase during this period.
