Assuming that the holy Eid-ul-Adha may fall on May 28, Bangladesh Railway has started selling advance train tickets. Accordingly, the sale of intercity train tickets for May 27 — the last day of Eid travel — began today, Sunday (May 17).
As usual, to reduce passenger suffering, 100% of seat tickets are being sold online through the app and website.
According to the railway’s decision, ticket sales for trains operating in the western region started at 8:00 AM on Sunday. Ticket sales for trains operating in the eastern region will begin at 2:00 PM.
Under the railway’s Eid operational plan, advance tickets for the five days before Eid are being sold. Following this schedule, tickets for May 23 were sold on May 13, tickets for May 24 on May 14, tickets for May 25 on May 15, and tickets for May 26 on May 16. Today, May 17, tickets for May 27 are being sold.
However, tickets for May 28, 29, and 30 will be sold later, depending on the sighting of the moon.
The railway authority stated that a passenger can purchase advance Eid travel tickets only once, and a maximum of four tickets can be bought using one ID. These tickets are non-refundable and cannot be returned under any circumstances.
However, at the request of regular and working passengers, 25% of the total seats (excluding higher-class seats) will be sold as standing or non-seat tickets from station counters on the day of travel.
