Hajj ends, homeward flights begin

The pilgrims have completed the main rituals of this year's Hajj by performing the symbolic stoning of the devil at the three Jamarat sites. After completing the rites on Friday (May 29), their return journey from Saudi Arabia to Bangladesh began that same night.

According to information from the Ministry of Religious Affairs, the first return Hajj flight departed from King Abdulaziz International Airport in Jeddah at 12:10 a.m. local Saudi time. The return of pilgrims to Bangladesh officially began with Saudia Airlines flight SV-5806.

On the first day alone, a total of 5,434 pilgrims are returning to Bangladesh on 13 flights. Return Hajj flights will continue until July 1.

Earlier, Hajj flight operations were officially inaugurated on April 17 at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport. The last flight carrying Bangladeshi pilgrims to Saudi Arabia arrived there on May 21.

The Ministry of Religious Affairs stated that all necessary arrangements—including tent rentals, transportation contracts, accommodation, and visas—were completed within the deadline set by the Saudi government. It also said that the authorities coordinated with the relevant airlines to ensure smooth travel for the pilgrims.

According to the ministry, these preparations enabled 100% of the registered pilgrims to travel to Saudi Arabia without any major scheduling disruptions.
