The government has introduced a new schedule to further strengthen electricity conservation and overall power management. Starting tomorrow, all shopping malls, markets, and shops across the country will be allowed to remain open from 11:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. every day.
At the same time, strict instructions have been issued to reduce pressure on electricity consumption by turning off decorative lighting and billboards within specified hours.
The new decision was announced in a message sent by the Ministry of Power, Energy and Mineral Resources on Wednesday (August 12).
Previously, under a June 11 decision by the Power Division, markets were permitted to remain open until 9:00 p.m. However, considering the current situation, the closing time has now been brought forward by one hour to 8:00 p.m.
In addition, all fairs, trade fairs, and cultural events currently taking place or scheduled to take place in different parts of the country must end by 8:00 p.m. every day. Furthermore, all illuminated billboards and all forms of decorative lighting must be completely switched off by 7:00 p.m. daily.
However, establishments involved in emergency services and essential goods will not be subject to the new time restrictions. These include food hotels and restaurants, hospitals, clinics, diagnostic centers, pharmacies, and other shops dealing with essential medicines and medical supplies.
Officials believe that the government has taken this timely measure to reduce excessive pressure on the electricity supply system and ensure electricity conservation nationwide. The Power Division has instructed all relevant establishments, business associations, and authorities to take the necessary steps to properly implement the government’s decision.
