A nine-day theatre festival, organised under the "Hridoye Dhaka 416" programme of Dhaka South City Corporation (DSCC) to showcase the capital's 416-year history, heritage and culture to the younger generation, concluded today with a colourful ceremony.
The second phase of the festival came to an end today at the Theatre Hall of Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy with a closing ceremony.
DSCC Administrator valiant freedom fighter Md Abdus Salam attended the function as the chief guest with DSCC Chief Executive Officer Md Khaybar Rahman in the chair, said a press release.
The first phase of the theatre festival was held for eight days from August 16 to 23 at the Zahir Raihan Cultural Centre auditorium in Sutrapur, Old Dhaka.
The second phase began on September 6 at the main auditorium of the Theatre Hall and continued until September 14, featuring nine plays by nine leading theatre groups of the country over nine days.
The plays staged in the second phase were: Kinu Kaharer Thetar by Prachyanat, Kunjus by Lok Natyadal (Banani), Trial of Surya Sen by Dhaka Padatik; Aleya by Bashori Repertory Theatre; Company by Aranyak Natyadal; Amina Sundari by Theatre Art Unit; Konthonalite Surya by Tirondaj Repertory; Se Ek Swapner Raat by Drishtipat Natya Dal; and Sea Morog by Bangladesh Theatre.
At the function, the DSCC administrator handed over crests, certificates and gifts to the participating theatre groups.
