Two children have been confirmed dead in a jumping castle accident at a Tasmanian primary school. The children were thrown around 10 meters after a strong gust of wind took up the jumping castle they were in.
According to police, two children died and others were gravely injured after falling from a bouncy castle.
The disaster occurred on Thursday at a primary school fun day in Devonport, Tasmania, and was caused by a wind gust. The toddlers had fallen from a height of roughly 10 meters, according to police.
Authorities have not specified children's ages or stated how many of them fell, but they have confirmed that "a number of others" were badly injured.
Several others are hospitalized in critical condition. The children were given first aid before being flown in helicopters to hospital. Paramedics arrived quickly at the scene after the accident at about 10.00 local time (23:00 Wednesday GMT).
The accident was termed as "unthinkably tragic" by Australian Prime Minister Scott Morrison.
