Skin care after fifties

Knowledge and confidence increases with our age. But gets difficult to take care of the skin after fifty or during the time of menopause. Because at this stage,  the skin starts to become more dry. Due to the low secretion of estrogen, the skin starts getting blemishes.

Collagen production in the skin is disrupted during menopause. Fat under the skin also begins to decrease. Hormonal changes also have some effect on  the skin.  However, it is possible to easily improve the skin by applying some of the following methods mentioned below:

  • Start cleaning  your face regularly with a cleanser: As you grow older, your skin begins to lose its moisture. Moreover, the skin tends to be dry.  So make it a habit to wash your face regularly with a good cleanser.

  • Stay hydrated: It is important to keep the skin hydrated. The skin should be kept hydrated using a thick cream. The oil glands on your skin do not work properly at this time. So try making it a habit by applying a thick layer of cream over your skin.

  • Use moisturizer:With increasing age, wrinkles and fine lines begin to appear. You certainly can't omit wrinkles. However, it is important to use a moisturizer to get less wrinkles on your skin.

  • Remove the spots: Spots begin to appear on the skin during menopause. So for this you can use sunscreen to remove those spots.

  • Take care of your hands: Lack of collagen in the back of the hand causes roughness. So be careful with your hands. Especially try to protect your hands from the sun. Also use gloves during working with water or  any other hard work.

  • Eat foods rich in antioxidants: Eat foods that are rich in antioxidants. Collagen is mostly found in foods which are rich in antioxidants. Veggies like carrots and Malabar spinach are a great source of collagen.  So increase the intake of vegetables and fruits rich in antioxidants.

  • Stay stress free: Stress hormones affect the skin in many ways. So try to stay stress free as much as possible. You always can reduce stress through yoga or exercise. Staying up at night is a bad habit and can be a reason behind your stress. Ensure regular sleep and moderate rest.
