Allrounder Shakib Al Hasan is scaling new heights in every format of the game. After becoming the leading wicket-taker in T20 World Cups, he added another feather in his overgrowing set of achievements this time in Test cricket.
Shakib is the first left handed player to take 400 wickets in T20. Apart from this, he has become the fastest player to take 5000 runs and 400 wickets in T20. He is the second player after Dwayne Bravo to achieve this position.
He achieved the feat in the match against Minister Group Dhaka in the Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) today at Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium on January 24.
In this match, Shakib, captain of Fortune Barsal, took the wicket of Mahmudullah, captain of Minister Group Dhaka. With this one wicket, Shakib completed his 400 wickets in T20 cricket. He became only the 5th bowler in the world to do this feat in Men’s T20.
Taking 400 T20 wickets with an average of 21.17 and an economy of 6.80, Shakib has written his name as the 5th bowler in the list, in which the top position is occupied by Dhoni’s friend ie Dwayne Bravo, who played together in the IPL team CSK. Dwayne Bravo has so far taken 554 T20 wickets at an average of 24.42 and an economy of 8.21.
Shakib is also the leading run-scorer for Bangladesh in the shortest format, scoring 897 runs in 42 matches witan average of over 24 and a strike rate of 125. Tamim Iqbal is is behind Shakib with 839 runs in 44 matches to his name. Shakib managed to score just 54 runs in four innings in the recently concluded series against Zimbabwe, but he managed to pick up five wickets, which is the highest by a Bangladesh player in the series.
Shakib is currently the top ranked all-rounder in International Cricket Council(ICC)’s list for both One-Day Internationals(ODIs) and T20Is and is ranked second in the ICC ranking of Test all-rounders.
