In a concerted effort to combat climate change, JCI Dhaka Founders, in collaboration with Lightshore Network, is launching the "Green Future Project" with the goal of planting 500 trees across four districts of Bangladesh.
Our local partner, Lal Sobuj Society, successfully implemented the fourth phase of our tree-planting in Sreepur, Gazipur, on October 8, 2024. This follows the completion of the plantation in three other districts over the past month.
Today, our initiative was not limited to tree planting; we also organized an awareness session for 60 students at Bairagichala High School. During this session, the students learned about the importance of planting trees and nurturing them.
At Bairagir Chala High School, we planted 60 trees, focusing on herbs and seasonal fruit trees like Mango, Bay Leaf, Jamrul, Sofeda, Chalta, Latkon, Amra, Amloki, and medicinal plants such as Neem and Haritaki.
We emphasized the critical role trees play in our environment and encouraged them to take responsibility for their growth. Additionally, we discussed climate action and its significance in combating environmental challenges.
JCI Dhaka founders aimed to inspire the students to become proactive in protecting the planet and contributing to a sustainable future. Our mission extends beyond planting; we aim to involve the community in nurturing these trees.
This follows our previous successful plantation projects in Mymensingh, where 86 trees were planted, and in Khulna, where we launched our campaign with 150 trees, another 70 trees in Mirzapur, Gazipur.
We must plant as many trees as possible across the country to fight climate change and create a greener Bangladesh, said Nahid Hasan kaysar, President of JCI Dhaka Founders.
Sultana Razia, Vice President of JCI Dhaka Founders, emphasized, "Our mission extends beyond just planting trees; we aim to engage the local community in nurturing and safeguarding these trees to ensure their long-term growth and well-being."
Tahsin Uddin, founder of Lal Sabuj Society, added, "Empowering our youth and local community to participate in tree planting not only combats climate change but also cultivates a sense of pride and stewardship for our environment."
JCI Dhaka Founders will conclude the plantation project in Dhaka by the end of this month. However, we are committed to continuing tree planting initiatives annually to promote a sustainable future and actively combat climate change.
