A Dhaka court today ordered the officer-in-charge (OC) of Cantonment Police Station to arrest former BNP lawmaker Mosaddek Ali Falu in a case filed for smuggling Tk 183.92 crore to Dubai by March 24.
After the OC of Banani Police Station filed a report stating that the address specified in the FIR and charge sheet is under Cantonment Police Station, Judge KM Emrul Kayesh of the Senior Special Judge's Court of Dhaka issued the judgment.
The same court accepted the allegations against Falu and two others on December 13 of last year and issued an arrest warrant for Falu, who was listed as a fugitive in the charge sheet.
The judge also ordered the OC of the Banani Police Station to submit the report by today.
Syed AK Anwaruzzaman, director of Star Ceramics Private Ltd, and SAK Ikramuzzaman, managing director of RAK Ceramics and Rakhen Development Company Ltd, are the other two.
Both of them had previously been granted bail by the trial court.
The charge sheet was presented to the Senior Special Judge's Court of Dhaka on September 30 last year by ACC Deputy Director Md Gulshan Anowar Prodhan, who was also the case's investigation officer.
Falu, a former member of BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia's advisory board, was listed as a "fugitive" in the charge sheet because he was not granted bail by any court, unlike the other two.
The Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) filed the case with Uttara Paschim Police Station against Falu and three others under the Money Laundering Act for siphoning Tk 183.92 crore to Dubai on May 13 of 2019.
