The Saudi Arabian government has set the minimum age requirement for Hajj at 15 years for this year’s pilgrimage.
On Wednesday, March 12, the Ministry of Religious Affairs issued a notice citing Saudi Arabia’s Ministry of Hajj and Umrah regarding this decision.
According to the notice, signed by Deputy Secretary Mamun Al Faruq, the Saudi Ministry of Hajj and Umrah has set the minimum age limit for Hajj in the 2025 pilgrimage season at 15 years, considering the health and safety of children. This age limit will be determined based on the date of birth mentioned in the pilgrim’s passport. All registered Hajj pilgrims, Hajj agencies, and banks involved in Hajj-related activities—both in the public and private sectors—must adhere to this directive.
If a registered child pilgrim aged 15 or above is unable to travel, their guardian may replace them with a pre-registered Hajj pilgrim, if applicable.
Deputy Secretary Mamun Al Faruq stated, “We must follow the directives of the Saudi government. Anyone above the age of 15 who wishes to perform Hajj must complete pre-registration and registration. Those below this age will not be allowed to go”.
