Stress-Free Eid Travels

Trains run on time, passengers breathe easy!

Update : 25 Mar 2025, 12:50

On the second day of the Eid journey, trains are departing from Kamalapur Railway Station in Dhaka within 5 to 10 minutes of their scheduled departure time.

The departure of the Dhaka-Rajshahi-bound Dhumketu Express marked the beginning of the second day of Eid travel.

The crowds at the station and platform are relatively smaller compared to previous years. Most of the trains are not overcrowded with passengers.

From early morning on Tuesday (March 25), passengers' presence on each platform has been noticeable.

All trains have left on time today, and a total of 43 intercity trains and 25 mail and commuter trains are scheduled to depart from Dhaka Station throughout the day.

To prevent passengers from traveling without tickets, ticket verification is being carried out in three stages. As a result, even though there is some crowding, ticket-holding passengers are able to wait at the platform with more comfort.

They are also boarding the trains smoothly without much hassle.

When asked about the overall situation, Dhaka Railway Station Manager Shahadat Hossain said, "We have made all preparations for the Eid journey. Control rooms have been set up by the RNB and Railway Police. Trains are departing on time, and passengers are traveling home without any inconvenience."

However, authorities also mentioned that with tomorrow being a public holiday, additional crowding may occur after office hours in the afternoon.

Also, return tickets for April 4 are available online today. Passengers traveling today had already purchased their seats in advance when tickets were sold on March 15.

The Bangladesh Railway’s plan to ensure a smooth Eid journey for ordinary passengers includes strict monitoring at all major stations, including Dhaka, Airport, Joydebpur, Chittagong, Mymensingh, Sylhet, Rajshahi, and Khulna.

In cooperation with the GRP, RNB, BGB, local police, and the RAB, continuous surveillance is in place to prevent ticketless travel.

To prevent sabotage, operations will be intensified by the RNB, GRP, and railway staff on moving trains, at stations, and on railway tracks.

In addition, with active cooperation from the RAB, BGB, local police, and other law enforcement agencies, any sabotage will be dealt with severely.

Rehenuma Begum, a passenger at the station, said, “The crowd will increase in the next few days, so I am leaving early. It’s difficult to travel with children in such a crowd. The station environment is fine.”

Another passenger mentioned, “I am preparing for a job in Dhaka after completing my studies. I always celebrate Eid with my family, and I am going home this year as well. There aren’t many job opportunities in Dhaka, so I am leaving early.”

Regarding the overall situation, Dhaka Railway Station Manager Shahadat Hossain stated, "We have made all preparations for the Eid journey. The control rooms of the RNB and Railway Police are active, and trains are departing on time. Passengers are traveling home without any trouble."

To facilitate ticket-holding passengers, starting from Wednesday (March 26), no tickets will be issued for inter-zone intercity trains traveling from Joydebpur Station to Dhaka or from Dhaka Station to Joydebpur.

Similarly, no tickets will be issued for intercity trains from Airport Station to Dhaka and from Dhaka Station to Airport. Furthermore, for the Eid holiday period, no salon cars will be added to the trains 10 days before Eid and 10 days after Eid.
