8 fresh Covid cases logged in Bangladesh

No new deaths from COVID-19 were reported in the last 24 hours in Bangladesh, while 8 new infections were confirmed during this period.

This information was revealed in a press release issued by the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) on Friday afternoon (July 4).

According to the release, a total of 218 samples were tested in the past 24 hours, with a positivity rate of 3.67%. As of now, the overall detection rate stands at 13.04%, the recovery rate at 98.41%, and the fatality rate at 1.44%.

So far this year, 617 people have tested positive for COVID-19, and 23 have died from the virus. Since the start of the pandemic in 2020, Bangladesh has recorded a total of 2,052,162 cases and 29,522 deaths.

As per DGHS data, a total of 15,733,015 samples have been tested in the country to date.

Notably, Bangladesh confirmed its first COVID-19 case on March 8, 2020, and reported the first death on March 18 of the same year.
