Cyclone 'Asani' might hit today

A cyclonic system that developed near India's remote Andaman Islands on Wednesday could intensify and hit the coast of Bangladesh today.

The cyclone is likely to move northwestwards via Odisha and West Bengal and hit Satkhira district in Bangladesh.

The maritime ports of Chattogram, Cox’s bazar, Mongla and Payra have been advised to follow necessary instructions.

The Bangladesh Meteorological Department (BMD) said in a special weather bulletin on Sunday.

As a result, Distant Cautionary Signal No. 2 has been asked to maintain in the country’s seaports.
