A team of around 200 members of Bangladesh Army joined with the fire fighters to bring at BM Container Depot fire in Sitakunda upazila of Chattogram under control which was burning for over 13 hours.
24 firefighting units worked to the spot and brought the blaze under control around 7:30 am on June 5.
Multiple explosions occurred inside the depot at one point, forcing the fire fighters to move to a safe location.
The army team is working to check the spread of chemical widely and also working on checking the extent of chemical leakage from the depot to the bay.
A 500-meter tin-shed at the BM container depot contained a large quantity of chemicals called Hydrogen peroxide.
Besides, various imported and exported goods were also kept in this depot.
