Maritime ports of Chattogram, Cox's Bazar, Mongla and Payra have been advised to hoist local cautionary signal number No 3 as the well-marked low over Northwest Bay and adjoining North Odisha-West Bengal coast has intensified into a monsoon depression.
It is now lies over the same area at 12 noon Sunday about 510 km West-Southwest of Chattogram, 520 km West of Cox's Bazar, 285 km West-Southwest of Mongla and 340 km West-Southwest of Payra.
It is likely to move West-Northwestwards and crossed North Odisha coast during next 24 hours.
Under its influence squally weather may affect the Maritime Ports, North Bay and adjoining coastal areas of Bangladesh.
Maximum sustained wind speed within 44 km of the Depression centre is about 40 kph rising to 50 kph in gusts or squalls. Sea will remain moderate near the Depression centre.
All fishing boats and trawlers over North Bay have been advised to take shelter immediately and remain in shelter till further notice.
