Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina today unveiled the inauguration plaque of much-anticipated Padma Bridge at 11:58am at Mawa Point.
A munajat was offered at the inauguration site. Cabinet secretary Mosharraf Hossain Bhuiyan led the munajat.
Earlier, the inaugural ceremony of the 6.15-kilometre Padma Bridge began at 10 am on Saturday at the Mawa end of Munshiganj in the presence of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina. Thousands of local and foreign guests attended the auspicious occasion organized on the occasion of the inauguration of Padma Bridge.
After participating in the gathering, the Prime Minister issued commemorative stamps, souvenir sheets, inaugural envelopes and seals on the occasion of the Padma Bridge inauguration. Then the premier went to the toll plaza. There she paid the toll and unveiled the inaugural plaque and mural-1 of the Padma Bridge at the Mawa end.
After the inauguration, the Prime Minister went from Mawa end of Munshiganj to Jajira end of Shariatpur over Padma Bridge along with her entourage. The premier will unveil the inaugural plaque and mural-2 of the Padma Bridge at Jajira end.
The Prime Minister also visited Kanthalbari in Shibchar Upazila of Madaripur from Jajira Point in Shariatpur. She attended a public gathering organized by the Awami League. The Awami League had announced to gather 1 million people in this public meeting.
