The first namaz-e-janaza of Deputy Speaker Advocate Md Fazle Rabbi Miah was held at National Eidgah on the Supreme Court premises on 10.30am. Later, another janaza will be held in Gaibandha at 3 pm.
The 76-year-old valiant freedom fighter will be laid to eternal rest at his family graveyard at Gotia village under Shaghata upazila of the district.
Chief Justice Hasan Faiz Siddiqui, Awami League General Secretary and Bridge Minister Obaidul Quader, Foreign Minister Dr. AK Abdul Momen, Fisheries and Livestock Minister Sh. Rezaul Karim, Agriculture Minister Dr. Abdur Razzak along with Supreme Court lawyers and Awami League central leaders were present.
Earlier on Monday (July 25) at 8:45 am, his body arrived at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport on flight A flight of Emirates Airlines. From there it was taken to the Supreme Court.
On July 22, Deputy Speaker Md. died while undergoing treatment at Mount Sinai Hospital in New York. Fazle Rabbi Mia. He was suffering from cancer for a long time.
He was survived by three daughters and a host of relatives and well-wishers to mourn his death. His wife Anwara Rabbi passed away in May 2020.
