A low pressure area formed over North Bay has intensified into a depression is responsible for the increased rainfall activity over the country, Bangladesh Meteorological Department (BMD) said on Saturday.
"Low pressure may develop in North Bay of Bengal and adjoining areas within three days. As a result, the trend of rainfall will increase across the country and gale force winds may blow. Heavy rain or showers accompanied by temporary gusty or squally wind is likely to occur at most places over the country. It is also currently extending over Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, West Bengal and central Bangladesh to Assam," said meteorologist Hafizur Rahman.
"There may be light to moderate rain and thunder with temporary gusty wind and lightning in many places of Dhaka, Khulna, Barisal, Chittagong and Sylhet divisions and in some places of Rajshahi, Rangpur and Mymensingh divisions. There may be also moderate to heavy rainfall in some parts of the country. As a result, day and night temperatures may drop slightly across the country," he added.
