National power transmission grid failed causing power outage in Dhaka, Chattogram, Sylhet and Mymensingh on Tuesday noon.
Engineers of both Bangladesh Power Development Board (BPDB) and Power Grid Company of Bangladesh (PGCB) are working to restore electricity transmission across the country.
At the official facebook page of Ministry of Power, Energy & Mineral Resources, Bangladesh, the ministry on Tuesday afternoon asked everyone to keep patience as they are trying to restore the power transmission as soon as possible. The engineers of PGCB along with others concerned have been trying their level best to restore power in the quickest possible time.
The power outage started at 2:04pm. Sources said that power supply in some regions is gradually being restored.
Power Grid Company of Bangladesh (PGCB) Executive Director Yeakub Elahi Choudhury told media that the crisis occurred due to the technical glitch.
"It normally takes 2 to 3 hours to solve such problem. We have already started to solve the problem," he added.
Zunaid Ahmed Palak, State Minister for ICT Division, wrote on his facebook: "It is expected that the power transmission will be restored by evening to 8:00pm in Dhaka. The problem will be solved by 9:00pm in Chattogram. The other parts of the affected areas will get electricity transmission soon."
The state minister asked everyone to keep patience.
