25 people killed in India's Uttarakhand bus accident

At least 25 people were killed and others injured when a bus fell into a gorge in India's Uttarakhand province on October 4.

The incident took place in the Uttarkhand's Birokhal area of Dhumakot as the vehicle ferried a wedding procession of around 45-50 people from Laldhang.

"Twenty Five people were found dead in the Pauri Garwhal bus accident that took place last night in the Birokhal area of Dhumakot. Police and SDRF rescued 21 people overnight; the injured have been admitted to nearby hospitals," DGP Ashok Kumar on Wednesday morning.

After getting the information, police officials rushed to the spot. TheIndian State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) also reached the site and started the search and rescue operations. 

The rescued ones who have suffered injuries have been shifted to the nearest hospital for further treatment.

"Unfortunate news has been received that the bus carrying passengers fell into a gorge near Simdi village of Pauri district.The Disaster Management Department people engaged inrelief and rescue operations."
He informed, “Teams of State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) are engaged in rescue at the spot. We are trying our best to bring all the facilities to the accident site. Local villagers are also helping in the rescue operation," tweeted Indian Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami.
