Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) Kazi Habibul Awal strictly instructed the administration and law enforcement agencies to work without favoring any political party.
He said, "There is no scope to be partial while performing duty during the election. You should be hundred percent neutral. Necessary action will be taken if any allegation of biasness is found."
The CEC came up with the assertion at a meeting with the Deputy Commissioners (DCs) and Police Superintendents (SPs) of 64 districts at the Election Commission building at Agargaon in the capital on Saturday (October 8) morning.
He also said, "It should be monitored that political leaders and activists should not be harassed centering the election."
CEC said, "The 12th Parliament Election will be held in a free, fair and peaceful manner. There are some debates over EVM issue. Not only we believe but also we have got evidence that the polls violence and vote rigging can be controlled easily with the use of EVM technology. We have taken decision to use EVM for 150 seats. However, we will have preparation to hold the election with ballot papers in more than 150 seats if needed. The administration and police personnel need to be prepared for that."
"The voting will be held at 42 to 45 thousand polling center across the country on the same day and time. It is not an easy task. However, it is not impossible. We need to complete the task with a coordinated effort," he added.
